I recently picked up a newsletter from the Erie County Department of Senior Services called “NY Connects”. The newsletter is a trusted, independent source of information and assistance that can help you make informed decisions for long term care and other services. The most recent edition, for example, talks about counseling that is available to help you pick the best health insurance option and an explanation about Medicare Advantage Plans. It also included locations of free lectures on topics such as “The History of Buffalo Roadways” and “Buffalo Diaries from the ‘30’s and ‘40’s”. There was an article about falls prevention and about “Club 99” – a senior fitness program. You can contact NY Connects of Erie County at (716) 858-8526 or visit their website at www2.erie.gov/seniorservices. It’s a nice source of information that can help you connect to services and organizations in WNY that can help you in your daily lives.
