Each year one third of all people over 65 will fall with many sustaining severe or even fatal injuries.  As we age balance becomes more important than ever.

Mobility is both physical and mental.  In an effort to find ways to prevent falls among elders, exercises like Tai Chi target both the physical and mental fundamentals in mobility.

The purposeful movements and repetitious motions in Tai Chi boost muscle function and stimulate the mental function that makes mobility easier.  Yoga and dance also work well to improve balance.  It’s never too early or late to begin exercises that will enhance balance.

Visit your primary physician before beginning any new exercise program.  Remember that balance-based exercise should be done in a group or with a partner for safety reasons.
