Clarence, NY — The Board of Directors of The Brothers of Mercy Holding, Inc. today announced that Chief Executive Officer Peter C. Eimer will retire effective August 31, 2026.
Eimer has held the role since 2016, with responsibility for the strategic planning and operations of the $40 million skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care, rehabilitation, and independent living communities that comprise The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus.
After joining the organization in 2001 as the Foundation Director, Eimer assumed management of finances for The Brothers Congregation in 2003. In 2010, he was named Chief Operating Officer of all campus facilities, and in 2016 he was named to his current role, the first lay person to hold that position.
“Peter signaled his intention to retire a year ago to enjoy more time with his family. Characteristic of his outstanding stewardship, commitment and love for the Brothers and the organization, he has been working with the Board to enable planning for a smooth leadership transition,” stated David J. Nasca, Chairman of The Brothers of Mercy Holding, Inc.
“His extensive, significant accomplishments and vision over 25 years have helped to grow, evolve and broaden the reach of the organization in a challenging health care landscape, platforming it for long-term sustainability and success into its second century.”
Throughout his tenure, Eimer was responsible for upgrading operations and expansion of the campus to create a comprehensive, sophisticated health care organization. Under his leadership, the organization made tremendous strides, consistently distinguishing itself as a premier wellness community and workplace of choice, including the construction and opening of:
o Montabaur Heights independent living community, the first new construction on the campus since the 1970s, which opened in January 2016 and has been at full capacity since
o Russell J. Salvatore Outpatient Therapy Clinic in January 2018
o Sacred Heart Home Assisted Living and Memory Care community that opened in December 2020, the only such facility opened in New York State during COVID
o Russell J. Salvatore Health Center featuring community health care provider tenants in October 2024
During Eimer’s time at the helm, The Brothers of Mercy was recognized by U.S. News & World Report on its annual Best Nursing Homes list annually for 10 consecutive years and ranked as high as 14th on Newsweek’s “America’s Best Nursing Homes List,” along with ranking as Western New York’s largest retirement community, 5-star Skilled Nursing Center, and independent living community. He has also been responsible for innovative partnerships including one with Hospice Buffalo.
Beginning in April 2026 and continuing after his retirement, Eimer will serve as Chair of The Brothers of Mercy Mary Help of Christians Mission Oversight Group, Inc., the sole member of The Brothers of Mercy Holding, Inc. (Management Company) and the entity responsible for overseeing the maintenance of values, culture and Catholic identity on the Wellness Campus. This will enhance continuity and ensure a smooth leadership transition.
A Certified Public Accountant, Eimer began his career with KPMG and spent 16 years in banking, holding positions at Goldome, KeyCorp and M&T Bank. He also served as a full-time Assistant Professor at D’Youville from 2001-15. Eimer has an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a BS from Canisius College.
