"The Light Speaks Eloquently"

The Brothers of Mercy is pleased to present quarterly exhibits at The Art Gallery at the Montabaur Heights independent living community at 4530 Ransom Road on our Wellness Campus. The gallery is open to the public daily from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Visitors who come to see the artwork may also enjoy lunch any day of the week between 11 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. in the Montabaur Heights dining room by calling (716) 407-5102 to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. Lunch is $15 per person, payable by cash or check, and no parties larger than 10.

The Art Gallery is part of a “Wellness Through Art” on The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus. The goal of the program is to encourage residents to continue thriving by remaining active in the different forms of art they enjoy creating or viewing. Activities that can enhance quality of life for residents include artist presentations, hands-on demonstrations and trips to other art galleries.

Fall Featured Artist

George Grace

The Art Gallery at Montabaur Heights welcomes its fall exhibit beginning on Oct. 10 and running through Dec. 31. The exhibit is called “The Light Speaks Eloquently” and features more than 30 artworks from George Grace. The gallery is open to the pubic daily from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Visitors to the Gallery can RSVP 24 hours in advance to 716-407-5102 to have lunch for $15 in the dining room between 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

George Grace is an award-winning visual artist working in mainly pastels and acrylics. He is past president of the Buffalo Society of Artists. He has done more than 2,300 artworks and several series: the steel industry, then and now; the Through-the Rain-Blurred Windshield series; portraits and Southwesterns; hundreds of nocturnes, landscapes and cityscapes. 

Many of the paintings in his Steel Plant Series come from photos he took while working as an electrician prior to the massive layoff of 1977. Many of his artworks of which are in the Western New York Steel Plant Museum and were exhibited at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center during its grand opening.

The Art Gallery at Montabaur Heights independent living apartments on The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus provides residents and Western New Yorkers an opportunity to enhance their lives through the arts by creating value, purpose and engagement.

 The gallery is a centerpiece of the “Wellness Through Art” program on the Campus that recognizes the contributions of artists while including residents in enrichment activities that help them thrive at any age.

 Through exhibits and presentations, the gallery embraces an atmosphere of beauty, peace and creativity while fostering an appreciation for the arts and instilling fellowship and community involvement.

 Artwork sales from the gallery’s exhibits support the Campus Foundation’s mission of sustaining compassionate care for patients and residents.
