The Brothers of Mercy Names Jennifer Blackchief as Chief Executive Officer

Health Care Executive Brings 25 Years of Leadership Experience

The Board of Directors of The Brothers of Mercy Holding, Inc. has appointed Jennifer Blackchief, as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus, effective May 1.

Blackchief succeeds Peter Eimer, who will retire on August 31 after 25 years of leadership.

Blackchief has served as Chief Operating Officer for the past two years, overseeing strategic planning and operations across the $40 million Wellness Campus, which includes skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, outpatient therapy, assisted living and memory care, and independent living communities.

“The Board of Directors is very pleased to appoint Jennifer Blackchief as its new leader to guide our Wellness Campus into the future. When she joined, we saw an excellent candidate to continue the strategic leadership of our Campus and address the continuing challenges facing the senior care industry. Jennifer possesses an impressive combination of senior care expertise in operations, facility and project management, employee engagement and community relations,” said David J. Nasca, Chairman of The Brothers of Mercy Holding, Inc. “We have been blessed to have Peter’s selfless leadership and stewardship in driving growth and vision for the Campus over the last 25 years. He has worked closely with the Board in planning this seamless leadership transition and will assist Jennifer over the next few months, as she steps into her new role.”

During her tenure as COO, Blackchief implemented operational improvements, advanced technology initiatives and led facility enhancements across the campus.

“I am honored to step into this role and continue the mission of providing exceptional, compassionate care,” said Blackchief. “Our strength is our people, and I look forward to working alongside our team to build on the strong foundation and proud tradition of over a century of care and service.”

Prior to joining The Brothers of Mercy, Blackchief held executive leadership roles at St. Ann’s Community in Rochester, TeamHealth and The Bristol Homes.

“Since day one, Jennifer has been an excellent asset in overseeing the operations of our four senior living communities,” said Eimer. “The Campus and the community at large will really embrace her dedication to service and improving quality of life for everyone. Her extensive knowledge of our region’s health care industry will continue to serve our excellent staff well as she guides the culture of five-star compassionate care and comfort for all of our residents.”

Blackchief holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Medaille University. She is a past honoree on the Buffalo Business First’s Health Care 50 list, recipient of the Western Regional EMS Leadership Award and a graduate of the Northstar Network Healthcare Business Academy (HBA) in Rochester.
