The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus is pleased to present a special fall exhibit by internationally renowned Western New York watercolor artist Jane Stoddard that is now on display through December 31. The artworks, all previously juried into national and international shows, may be viewed and purchased by the public in The Art Gallery at Montabaur Heights independent living community on the campus.
The gallery is hosting a community opening reception for her exhibit on Thursday, October 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 4530 Ransom Rd. in the Clarence Hollow. The exhibit is open to the public daily from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
“The Art Gallery Committee is thrilled to host Jane Stoddard’s exceptional watercolor paintings,” said Mary Jo Ketchum, Chairperson of The Brothers of Mercy Art Gallery Committee. “The quality of her work is remarkable, and the community will have a great appreciation for her talents when they view the vast variety of works from her illustrious career.”
Stoddard, an East Amherst resident, started out as an oil painter. She later discovered her true form in watercolors as she enjoys the pursuit of finding new subjects to paint as much as she likes painting them. She considers a work successful if the viewer experiences the same excitement she felt when she found the subject for the first time.
“I was fortunate to achieve many of the goals I set in the artist community at large through my membership in local and national art organizations,” said Stoddard. “I continue to enter shows and it is my pleasure to showcase part of my collection at The Brothers of Mercy this fall. My most significant achievement is looking back and seeing what I have accomplished as a self-taught artist. I am most happy when I am involved in the creative process and always look forward with anticipation to my next painting.”
Stoddard is a signature member of many watercolor societies, including the prestigious National Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She is a fellow in the American Artists Professional League and a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists. She has received many national and local awards and honors for her work.
Since opening in February 2024, The Art Gallery at Montabaur Heights has exhibited the works of regional artists that enrich understanding of culture, history, beauty and creativity and invite viewers to see the world through artists’ eyes to enjoy, empathize, understand and wonder.
Visitors to the gallery can also enjoy lunch by reserving in advance to 716-407-5102. For more information, email info@brothersofmercy.org or visit BrothersofMercy.org/ArtGallery.
