What was your hometown before coming to Sacred Heart Home?
I grew up on the East side of Buffalo and belonged to St. Luke’s Church. Before coming to Sacred Heart Home, I lived in Depew..

Do you still have family members or relatives in Western New York?
My sister Theresa, who is widowed, lives in Williamsville and has two daughters. My brother Eugene and his wife live in West Henrietta.

What are some of your earliest memories of the former Sacred Heart Home?
The great teamwork throughout all departments. Everyone tries their best. Barbara is honored to be a part of The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus.

How different is it for you now that you have lived in the new Sacred Heart Home for three years?
Marvelous changes! I was told at the new building I would get a small fridge. I would not call this fridge small! I love having my personal bathroom, parlor and kitchenette. I do not call this my room, I call it my apartment. I’m blessed I’m able to have my furniture from home here!.

What activities do you enjoy at Sacred Heart Home?
I enjoy knitting and attending group discussions to get to know other residents.

Do you have a group that does activities together?
Yes, we attend Rosary, group exercise classes and bus trips!

In what ways does the staff help you out on a daily basis?
The staff helps with just about everything and anything. If someone doesn’t have a solution for me, they will find someone who does.

What is your favorite part about living at Sacred Heart Home?
The simplicity of the meal routines and the relationships formed with tablemates.

Do you have a favorite memory from your years here on campus?
Watching the view outside my apartment

What would you say about the quality of care and comfort you experience at Sacred Heart Home if a local family asked you about it and they were considering having a loved one come here for Assisted Living or Memory Care?
You will receive excellent care!
